NFBi – Network for Research-based Userdriven Innovation

Systematic use of userdriven innovation methods can make new products more concise and competitive in the global market.

The NFBi network was established with the aim of conveying knowledge of userdriven innovation. NFBi plays an active role in facilitating knowledge sharing and matchmaking between enterprises and knowledge environments with expertise in the field.

NFBi is member-based and works in cross-disciplinary teams with scientists and enterprises in the context of user involvement – at all levels of the innovation process.

Themes
NFBi has particular focus on three themes relating to building up new knowledge, developing new methods and anchoring userdriven practices:

Energy and Environment

Denmark holds a global position at the forefront of environment and energy technology. One of the major challenges of the sector is to develop technologies and total service concepts that are both efficient and sustainable and will be in demand by end users.

Building
Building industries and building research institutions have put user and public involvement on the agenda. NFBi has particular focus on user involvement as a strategic process tool in the building sector and on participatory design in relation to IT in buildings.

Entertainment

Designing and developing entertainment activities involves new target groups and challenges both the entertainment sector’s existing ways of working and traditional user involvement methods. User involvement is aimed towards new entertainment features in the home, in the public space and in physical products.

NFBi is partly funded by the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. NFBi is run by the Alexandra Institute.
